Removing water based paint from carpet

If you need to deal with a paint spill on carpet fittings at home, you need to know where to start. The thing that you should do is look at the paint dryness. For example, if the paint is still wet – as in it has just dropped – then you simply need to blot the area using a wet paper towel. This should lift out all of the paint. Make sure you don’t scrub, though, as this will make the paint stick to the carpet.

If the paint is dry, though, you will need some detergent and a bucket of hot water. Then, put the solution on top of the dried paint and let it sit for a good few moments. This should break-up and lift the majority of the dry paint out of the carpet, if it is water base.

Once the paint has started to soften up and stopped being so dry, get a pin and start scraping softly at the paint. This should help you to remove paint from carpet without lasting damage. Another option to use for really dry paints is to get a handheld steamer, and point this to the paint stain as you scrape – this should get rid of it without much issue.
